    Video Review

To start off this review I really would like to congratulate Maggie. This is person I'm really proud of simply because I can remember some of her very first videos. And like most people starting out, she was clueless as to how good videos could be made. However she had the creative drive and the passion to throw everything she knew away and to adopt a new style that is definately more challenging to utilize. It took her a lot of trying and trying and after all of her hard work she deserves to have her work(s) high lighted here for us all to enjoy. Good job, Mags. You've earned it.
I know give you my review of Maggie's Catwoman - "Feline Intuition".

    Epical Editor - Maggie
Music Choice - Into The New World - Yoshitaka Hirota
Video Category - Movie - Catwoman

    Video Quality

DVD rip = DVD quality. This girl did all her homework to get footage this clean and gives us a nice and crisp video to enjoy. No pixels, no blurriness or fuzziness. Cant really find any fault. I love it when they make it easy on me.

    Video Quality Score - 5/5

Music Choice - Into The New World - Yoshitaka Hirota

For this video, Maggie decided to use lyric-less song which if chosen correctly will work well and help tell the story. The tough part about using a music source that has no lyrics means that the music better portray emotion and the footage used better tell the story well enough to get the editors message across. Without lyrics in the song, it can be harder for the viewer(especially viewers who have never seen the source before) to make some connections that can add to the emotion the video emits. This choice was good and bad. It was the lack of lyrics that made it impossible for me to make any connections with the storyline. Not having seen the movie didnt help me either. However, the the actual music itself worked very well and gave off a wild ambience that definately matched the feline theme of the movie and music video. At the end I was left thinking, "Damn this was a cool video, but I wish I had known more". So that might be a cue for me to get off my behind and watch the movie but the lack of lyrics was kind of like a double edged sword in this case.

    Music Choice Score - 3/5

    Transitions and Effects

Alrighty, to the meat and potatoes of the video we go. One thing Maggie was able to do well was match her transitions to her audio. Example: at the beginning-ish part of the video where it starts to pick up with the faster beatsshe strobes her clips in quickly and fades them out fairly quickly as well. However, near to the end of the song, the editor goes for softer and progressively longer cross fades and fades to match the slower tempo of the song. This was well done because with no lyrics, Maggie had to use her transitions to add more of a feel to the video as there was no voice tone to portray any feel. By using her transitions the way she did it gives the viewer an idea that "the action is picking up" etc. Needless to say this is fairly rudimentary, but it becomes all the more important when using a lyricless audio track. Effects used in this video were few and far in between if you dont count the strobes. Generally all the strobes were fast and worked well. At 1.35 however I felt that a full second of strobe made my eyes kind of ga ga. The clips in between couldnt even be made out because the strobe was going so fast. If indeed there was any clips in that segment. It matched the music, sure but with the amount of strobes already in the video I'm thinking maybe a clip placement sequence would have worked better and would be have been a bit easier on the eyes. At .46 there was a quick zoom out and at 157 there was a slo mo. I think an added effect or two would have been nice. It would have added a nice spice if the effects were chosen correctly. Not that this was bad, I just think that the video is a bit too basic and would have looked even better with the added oomph.

Transitions and Effects Score - 4/5

    Timing and Lyric Sync

With Lyrics taken out of the equation it was pretty much on the timing to carry this video. And it was on. Any timing that you could have expected or asked for was used.As far as I could tell, the timings that Maggie used were on. That second long strobe sequence that I whined about in the last segment was on time which is kudos to the editor. So the timings were played out well. Without lyric sync, the editor has to choose their clips wisely and ho wthey interact with the song(via transitions etc)One part that really stuck out for me is at 2.05. now, there's no lyrics telling you there's a scrap or a showdown of any sorts. But at this point with the music the way it was and the clip chosen, you could tell there was going to be this big cat fight. The music just suited it perfectly. T'was good recognition for that segment, as well as good overall timing for the video.

Timing and Lyric Sync Score - 4.5/5

    Overall Impression

For a movie that I hadn't watched and had no interest in, I quite enjoyed the video. It was short, sweet and tried to cover all of the bases. The lack of lyrics made it hard for me to make any connections in the storyline though it was made obvious that there was the catwoman, something had happened to her, there was a love interest and an enemy as well as a supporter. In the end, she doesnt stay with the love interest....that one threw me for a loop.
But with the short time that she had, Maggie still did a decent job capturing the action as well as the softer moments of the movie. As for the movie itself, well I'll just consider this Music Video the best part heheh. I would have liked an extra effect or two as the fades and strobes were just a bit too straightforward. Gimme some dressing with that salt and pepper!hehe. In the end though, this video is definately deserving to be part of the Epical Lineup.

    Overall Impression Score - 4/5

    Final Grade - 20.5/25 - 82% - B

Grats Maggs. ^^ Can't wait to check this vid out.

Really dug the vid. The white flashes in rapid succesion right before the violins section kinda blocked out the picture a bit, but I may just have my darkness set to high. Oo very nice
