    Welcome Pishkin!!!!

I'm here to say WELCOME to the Epical Studios editing team Pishkin. And congratulations due to the level of crap you've been through these last few weeks with your video. You've earned it!!! Now the video does have pixelation due to the source files already being pixelated on disc, so give Pish a break on that part. The timing and clip use is done VERY well. *Hats off to you man.* I definitely can't wait to see what you have in store for us next. Keep up the great work.

    Review

A big welcome to Pishkin. We're glad to have you among us and I'm sure you'll be a great addition to our team. Alright....enough with the sucking up. I'm late. Real late. Apologies. Ummm...Ish? Send the man one of your personal "I'm Sorry" plushies. Put it on my tab. *ahem* Anyway, I'm not going to get into the how or why of the lateness, everyone's been waiting long enough, especially Pish so I'm not going to bore you with my jabber. I now give you my (very late) review of Pishkin's Xenosaga - The Will To Power.

    Epical Editor - Pishkin
Video Category - Game - Xenosaga
Music Choice - Do You Call My Name - RA

    Video Quality

Well we all were given a heads up at the time of release that this was not of the best quality. We were also given notice that all attempts were made at getting the clips in higher quality but in the end it was the original DVD quality that was the problem. So thanks Namco for that one....they must be n00bs at Making DVD's. Poor Pish.....in the end though, the quality is what the quality is. Dont get me wrong there were some clear and good clips used throughout the video. But the presence of general blurriness was just too distracting. That and some pixellation could be seen as well. Unfortunately this was able to be found throughout the video and was not isolated to one part or portion of the vid. In the end Pish tried his best but he got handcuffed by the fact that there was no other sources to use. But in the end the quality was what the quality was.

    Video Quality Score 3/5

    Music Choice

With lots of hard beats to utilize timings, Pish chose pretty strongly. When it comes to song choice its generally you either pick well and have a good song choice or you don't. There's not much room for if's or maybes. When I first heard it I was meh. But like a lot of the song choices it grew on me. I could find no reason why this would not be a good song choice that could be picked at in this section. Had a lot of signature beats, lyrics seemed to fit at least decently enough to not warrant a demerit and it was a good match for the clips provided. So with that evidence I find no reason to dock points.

    Music Choice Score - 5/5

    Transitions and Effects

After watching this vid I feel like I'm in a club or something.....soo.....much.....strobing.....and Remember! Winners Don't use drugs! Why? Because if you were taking drugs and by chance caught this video you'd probably go into seisures. In other words there's A LOT of strobing. By my sheet here I've counted at least 14 strobing sequences. By sequences I meant times that a strobe was used. You may be thinking I was missing a lot but I also had to watch for which sequences were actual strobing with 1 clip and which was a sequence with very fast clip placement. There was A LOT of both. However if nothing had been done I doubt that this video would have had the impactful feel that it had when the beats were layed down. On the flip side, I think that for the next go around Pish will need to add some other effects simply because near the end of the video it was getting a bit too much. He tried to make up for it with a couple of slower white strobes throughout but the sheer amount of insane fast clip placements and strobes just had my eyes aching(only a little bit). They were used well, but when that amount of strobes is needed an alternative would be a good idea to look for as that many could become redundant.
Other effects to make note of was some Black and white used here and there as well as some quick ghosting at 2.07. I also noticed a circular type of blur used at around 1.17. I liked that. What type of blur is that? Or was that part of the animation. Please let me know.
For transitions we had some fast albeit nicely placed crossfades which came in groups of three or four which was cool to see. Some overlays worked alright as well. But the one point that I think worked REALLY well was at 3:07 where Pish goes for an overlay/strobe combo. Very nice! Just had the perfect feel to it. There were at times places where the editor used just a straight fade to black or white. The white worked alright but I felt that once or twice the black was left just a tiny bit too long. Maybe start the fade in or something sooner to combat that black screen/waitingness. (Bad wordage I know....) All in all for a first outing, this was a good start. Pish has publicly said that he wants to add more effects and will play around more with premiere to add more goodies to his productions. And thats what its all about right there. Wanting to improve and get better. Kudos on ya for it.

Transitions and Effects Score - 4/5

    Timing and Lyric Sync

Alright well you know what? You wont be getting a huge list like usual simply because by the time I got to the end of my page I was only at 2:18 through the video. Thats how many points I had made. Thats simply rediculous. By rediculous I mean nuts. By nuts I mean this guy are sick. In a good way. All in a good way. I wonder where he gets it from? But all joking aside, with all the strobes Pish used in the video he had better get it timed right or else this ain't happenin. Hell it wouldn't have made it to the staff debate stage. Every strobe or fast clip placement used is ON TIME. It was his choice to use this many strobes. Whether or not it was too many is not the issue. The issue is were they on time? Darn right they were. No repetitiveness or whatever can take that away from him. I dont even want to think of how far he had to zoom in on his timeline to make sure the timings were good because with the amount of clip placements and strobes there is A LOT of room for error. Besides the strobe and clip placement timings there were a lot of other nuances that would have been overlooked because of the strobing etc. These were also well thought out. 1.12, 1.22, 1.27, 1.31 - 1.32, 1.37, 1.41, 1.45, 1.56, 1.58 - Check it, yo. Ahem, I mean those times SHOULD mostly be of timings that were based on the characters actions or something that happened within the storyline.
I had originally thought that there wasn't much lyric syncing in this video simply because the flashing lights had hypnotized me. But it turned out that there was indeed a good amount of solid lyric syncs. Have seen the error of my ways I was quite pleased to find them at 1.02, 1.16, 1.19, 1.20, 1.28-1.30, 1.34-1.37, 1.44, 1.51, 2.03, and 2.14. Once again these lists are shortened simply because at this point my whole page was full of notes. At this point with a full page of notes I figured that this category was definately spoken for. So if you want to find the rest for yourself then go watch the video again!! Or better yet download it again to show a friend. Alright enough shameless plugs. I'll score it now....

Timing and Lyric Sync - 5/5

    Overall Impression

The timings in this vid were very well done. The lyric syncs when utilized were good as well. I still felt that some different effects could have come in handy as the strobing was getting a bit too much of the same. But other than this fact I feel that this was a very solid start for Pish and I expect only bigger and better things from this budding Vid maker as the days roll by. Welcome to the group Pish, and we look forward to your next output.

    Overall Impression Score 4.5/5

    Final Grade - 21.5/25 - 86% - A:biggrin:

~Plans on wearing shades for Pish's next vid

Ok after talking to Auron and Pishkin, we decided to replace the tagged video with the untagged version (as its quality is better....no perfect, but better) So wait for 20 minutes after I post and go get it again.
